My Jam, Ale's Cucumbers and Anna's Margarine

All over Europe there are prices and awards supporting young artists during the creative process or at the beginning of their career. To name just two examples, Bjcem (Biennal of Young Artists from Europe and the Mediterranean) and Stiftung Kunturfonds. In July 2003 I exhibited at the 11th edition of Bjcem in Athens: I lived ten days long together with other artists from different European countries, I saw them meeting for lunch or supper, I heard them talking about their friends and mates.

One year later I started going through the lists of artists attending such events and noting down the ones that appealed to me the most. What I want to do now is go visit these people, see the places where they live, make a portrait of them and of their flatmates with a b/w Polaroid, ask them to write their name on the bottom of the photograph and to name a food from their fridge they feel close to. I would place the photographs in the fridge following their instructions and then take a picture of the fridge. I will have the photographs printed life-size, mounted into a white varnished metal frame and lean them (not hang them) against the wall.
